Is it just me or are you down trodden by the negativity in the news, frustrated by politics and just sad to hear about all the pain and suffering out there? Well, that’s why ‘Random acts of kindness day’ exists… to remind us of the good and that kindness is the antidote to all the bad stuff.
Random acts of kindness are a hot topic in science and psychology today and it has been proven that compassionate giving and benevolence are not only great for the recipient, but the giver as well. Study after study shows that we feel happier when we perform acts of kindness and physiological benefits include a strengthened immune system, increase in energy, lower heart rate and balanced cortisol levels which result in less internal stress. Apparently kind people are more likely to live longer!
A local physiotherapy and sports injuries business, The Sports Injury Clinic, is making a pledge of kindness by helping with back pain. For the rest of February they are giving away FREE BACK CHECK UPS across their 6 Clinics in East Anglia and asking people to ‘pay it forward’ to friends, colleagues and family in a random act of kindness.
Lee Petrucci, Clinical Director at The Sports Injury Clinic said: “Back pain seriously affects the quality of so many people’s lives, with 4 out of 5 people experiencing back pain at some point in their life it is the number one complaint that we see in Clinics. So through the free back checks we hope to help people smile again or at least feel they have a chance of recovery”.
